Imagine this. It is 1am. You are standing on your rooftop in Lahore. The Orion Nebula is right above you. Your Nikon lens is mounted. Your ZWO camera is ready. But you have no way to put a filter between them.
That one missing piece ruins the whole session.
The ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens is that missing piece. It connects your Nikon F-mount lens directly to your ZWO cooled camera. And it gives you a slot for a 2-inch filter — right in the middle. No extra filter wheel needed. No complicated setup. Just mount it, insert your filter, and shoot.
Sky Deep Co is the only authorized ZWO dealer in Pakistan. We stock this product for Nikon shooters who are serious about astrophotography. And right now, only 2 pieces are left in stock.
The Problem ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens Solves
Most Nikon users face this exact situation. They already own a great Nikon F-mount lens — maybe a 50mm f/1.8, a 24mm, or a 135mm. They buy a ZWO cooled camera. They connect the two using a basic T-ring adapter.
And then they realize — there is no place for a filter.
To get clean deep-sky images, you need a filter. Especially in Pakistan, where light pollution from cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad washes out the faint light from nebulae and galaxies. Without a filter, your images will look orange and blurry — no matter how good your camera is.
A filter wheel is one option. But filter wheels are heavy, expensive, and add more cables to your setup. For wide-field imaging with a DSLR lens, they are overkill.
The ZWO Filter Drawer solves this cleanly. It is light. It is slim. It holds one 2-inch filter. And it sits right between your Nikon lens and your ZWO camera without adding bulk.
How ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens Works — Step by Step
Step 1: Attach the Nikon F-mount side of the drawer to your Nikon lens. It locks in just like a regular camera body would.
Step 2: Attach your ZWO cooled camera to the M42x0.75 (T2) thread on the other side. Use the included M54M–M42F adapter if you are using a full-frame camera.
Step 3: Slide your 2-inch filter into the drawer slot. The magnetic system holds it firmly in place.
Step 4: You are done. Start imaging.
When you want to change your filter — just pull the drawer out, swap the filter, and push it back in. The magnet snaps it into position automatically. Even in complete darkness, you can do this in under 10 seconds.
What Makes ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens Special
No Flexure. Zero.
The body of the ZWO Filter Drawer is CNC-milled aluminum. This is not plastic. This is not cheap metal. CNC milling cuts the shape from a solid block of aluminum using a computer-controlled machine. The result is a part that fits perfectly every single time.
Why does this matter for astrophotography? Because when your camera flexes — even by 0.2mm — your stars turn into streaks. You lose hours of imaging time. The solid aluminum construction of this drawer keeps your lens and camera perfectly aligned from the first shot to the last.
Magnetic Filter Swap System
Traditional adapters use screw-in rings to hold filters. In the dark, with cold fingers, screwing in a filter is a nightmare. You risk dropping it. You risk damaging the threads. You waste precious imaging time.
This drawer uses magnets instead. The filter holder slides in and out smoothly. The magnet holds it tight enough that it will not fall out — but loose enough that you can remove it with one hand. Simple engineering. Big difference in real life.
Slim Profile at Just 29mm
Some filter adapters add 50mm or more to your optical train. That extra length changes your back focus distance and causes vignetting — dark corners in your images. The ZWO Filter Drawer adds only 29mm. This keeps your optical train clean and your images edge-to-edge sharp.

Which Filter Should You Use with This Drawer?
This is where most beginners get confused. There are many types of 2-inch filters. Which one is right for you depends on what you want to shoot.
Shooting from a city with lots of light pollution?
A narrowband filter is your best friend. It blocks the orange glow from streetlights and only lets through specific wavelengths of light — like the hydrogen-alpha signal from nebulae. You can shoot from the middle of Lahore and still get stunning nebula images.
Shooting from a dark site outside the city?
A broadband light pollution filter works well here. It reduces general sky glow while letting in more natural light from galaxies and star clusters.
Just starting out and want one filter for everything?
Look at our multi-band filters. These are designed to handle multiple targets with a single filter. Less decision-making, more imaging.
Still not sure? That is completely fine. Book a free consultation with our team at Sky Deep Co. Tell us your location, your Nikon lens, and what you want to shoot. We will tell you exactly which filter to buy.
Compatible ZWO Cameras
The ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens works with all ZWO cooled cameras that have a 17.5mm back focus distance. One important note — it does not support the ZWO GT series cameras.
If you do not have a ZWO camera yet, browse our full ZWO cameras and accessories collection. We stock cooled color cameras, cooled monochrome cameras, and guiding cameras. All are genuine ZWO products — because Sky Deep Co is Pakistan's only authorized ZWO dealer.

This Is Where Wide-Field Astrophotography Begins
The combination of a Nikon DSLR lens + ZWO cooled camera + this filter drawer is one of the most popular setups for wide-field astrophotography. You get a large field of view that captures entire nebulae and star clusters in a single frame. No telescope needed. Just your Nikon lens doing what it does best.
If you want to go further and start imaging deep space objects like the Andromeda Galaxy or the Rosette Nebula, this drawer is the first step in building that setup. From here, you can add a star tracker mount to follow the stars, and a guiding camera to keep your images perfectly sharp all night.

FAQs — ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens
Q1. Does this work with all Nikon lenses?
It works with all lenses that use the Nikon F-mount bayonet. This covers most Nikon DSLR lenses made over the last 30 years. It does not support Nikon Z-mount lenses used on Nikon mirrorless cameras. Not sure about your lens? Contact us and we will check before you order.
Q2. Can I use this without a filter inside?
Technically yes — but you should not. Without a filter, the drawer creates an open gap in your optical train. Dust can enter and land on your camera sensor. Always keep either a filter or a blank cover inside the drawer when shooting.
Q3. What 2-inch filters work with this drawer?
Any standard 2-inch mounted filter works. Sky Deep Co carries a wide range in our astrophotography filters collection — including narrowband, broadband, multi-band, and LRGB sets. Our team can help you pick the right one for your imaging goals.
Q4. Does this replace a filter wheel for Nikon lens setups?
For single-filter wide-field imaging, yes — it completely replaces a filter wheel. You do not need a filter wheel when you are using just one filter. If you plan to use multiple filters and switch between them automatically during a session, a filter wheel is a better choice. Not sure which path is right for you? Book a free consultation with us.
Q5. I want to start astrophotography with my Nikon. Where do I begin?
Start with our Astro Learning Hub — it explains everything from scratch. Then book a free consultation with Sky Deep Co. We will build a complete beginner setup around your Nikon lens and your budget. Many Pakistani astrophotographers started exactly this way.
