Product Description
The Askar FRA600 4.3" 108mm F/5.6 Quintuplet Petzval Flat Field Astrograph is a premium wide-field astrograph designed for demanding deep-sky astrophotography and high-quality visual observation. It combines a large 108mm aperture with a 600mm focal length and fast f/5.6 focal ratio for detailed, efficient imaging.
The FRA600 uses a five-element quintuplet flat-field APO optical design with two ED elements. Its integrated Petzval-style field correction produces a flat and well-corrected image across a large 66mm image circle, making the telescope particularly suitable for full-frame and larger-format imaging systems. The manufacturer also states that a separate field flattener is not required for the native optical configuration.
The telescope features a robust focuser system with multiple connection options, a retractable dew shield, and a multifunctional tube-ring system with mounting points for accessories such as guide scopes. With a 600mm focal length, the FRA600 provides a useful balance between wide-field framing and detailed deep-sky imaging.

FAQs
What is the Askar FRA600 best used for?
The Askar FRA600 is designed primarily for deep-sky astrophotography and can also be used for high-quality visual observation. Its 108mm aperture, 600mm focal length, and f/5.6 focal ratio make it suitable for imaging nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, and other deep-sky targets.
Does the Askar FRA600 need a separate field flattener?
No. The FRA600 uses a built-in quintuplet flat-field optical design, so a separate field flattener is not required for its native imaging configuration.
Is the Askar FRA600 suitable for full-frame cameras?
Yes. The FRA600 provides a large 66mm image circle, giving it substantial coverage for full-frame imaging systems and other large-format sensors.
Can the Askar FRA600 be made faster for astrophotography?
Yes. An optional 0.7× focal reducer is available for the FRA600. This can provide a shorter effective focal length and faster imaging configuration.
What optical design does the Askar FRA600 use?
The FRA600 uses a five-element quintuplet flat-field APO design, including two ED elements. The front and rear optical groups work together to provide strong colour correction and a large, flat imaging field.
